How Do I Read My Meter?
2 The pointer is between 2 and 3 so this dial reads 2. (the arrow indicates the direction the pointer is moving)
4 Do you read this 4 or 3?  A quick check of the dial to the right shows its pointer has passed the zero point.   The third digit in your reading is, therefore, 4.

5 The pointer of this dial registers 5. It is not necessary to use the last digit to obtain an accurate meter read.  Read only the first three dials.

The meter reading in the picture above reads 254.

Natural Gas is measured in cubic feet.  T. W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. ("T. W. Phillips") bills its customers in increments of 1000 cubic feet or Mcf.

Each meter is assigned a specific meter number.  The meter number is unique to your meter.  The meter number can be found on a brass or silver plate on the front of the meter.  The meter number can also be found on your gas bill.

T. W. Phillips is required to periodically change your gas meter.  The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission requires gas companies to change meters every 16 years.

Why should I read my meter?  Doesn't the gas company read my meter?

T.W. Phillips reads your meter every other month.  On months when we do not read your meter, we estimate your gas usage.  You can avoid estimated bills by reading your meter every other month.  Reading your meter, rather than receiving an estimated bill, will decrease fluctuations in your bill caused by estimates.  Reading your meter gives you actual usage.  Reading your meter every other month can help you to monitor your gas usage and bill amounts.

Use Our Automated System To Phone In Your Meter Read.  It Is As Easy As A Push Of A Button.

If you have a push button phone and touch tone service, you can take advantage of our automated system.  You do not have to wait to speak to a representative.  Our new automated system will call you to tell you when it is time to read your meter.   You read your meter.  Then call 1-888-GAS-SEEK or 1-888-427-7335, listen for the prompts, then enter your meter read.  T. W. Phillips will bill you from your meter read.  If you do not have a push button phone with touch tone service, call 1-800-222-5101 and give your meter reading to a customer service representative.
